STORIES

A window of opportunity in the heart of L.A.

Microsoft

What We Did

  • Provided brilliant, even illumination to Microsoft Theater and Microsoft Square signage
  • Illuminated the massive 50′ × 50′ per square light box rooftop logo, as well as wall signs and letter sets varying in size from 36″ to 73″
  • Enabled sign installers to use fewer modules, lowering installation and operating costs for Microsoft

The result is brilliant, color accurate, evenly lit signs that bring the magic and excitement of the Microsoft brand to the high-profile venue.

Task

Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia in 2014, prompted the rebranding of the former Nokia Theatre to Microsoft Theatre, a 7,100-seat concert and special events venue, and the 40,000-square-foot outdoor plaza, Microsoft Square. This included lighting the largest Microsoft logo in existence, a massive 50' × 50' per square light box rooftop logo at a total of 10,000 square feet (or roughly 3.5 tennis courts) while ensuring the accuracy of Microsoft's signature colors, as well as wall signs and letter sets varying in size from 36" to 73".

Solution

SloanLED V180 Large is unique in that it boasts a 180-degree viewing angle for maximum visual performance, and was chosen for its innovative and efficient design that, not only provides exceptional brightness at an impressive 140 lumens per module, but also affords sign makers flexibility in installation with built-in stretch spacing, and the ability to save time and money by using less product, lowering installation and operating costs.
